Mosasaurus & Zarafasaura: Morocco 66 Million Years Ago

Well, I’ve made another short prehistoric animation. This one is about a mosasaur attacking a plesiosaur in late Cretaceous Morocco. Enjoy!

Note: No AI was used to make this. This entire animation was made and narrated by humans.

Transcript:

66 million years ago, the vast deserts of Morocco were covered in water. Here, marine reptiles ruled the late Cretaceous seas before a massive asteroid would cause their extinction.

Some of these reptiles were small like the 4 meter long plesiosaur, Zarafasaura. In Arabic, zarafa means “giraffe”, a fitting name for these long necked creatures.

Others marine reptiles were large and terrifying. This is Mosasaurus, a giant, 10 meter relative of monitor lizards and snakes. Like a reptilian killer whale, it was an apex predator, and it hunted all types of prey.

While it did not have a good sense of smell, it had excellent vision and could likely hear vibrations in the water. Nearby, a sick Zarafasaura is struggling to swim and stay afloat, making it a prime target for Mosasaurus. For now, this is the King of the Ocean.
