These are some wild quokkas I filmed on Rottnest Island, Western Australia. Rottnest Island actually got its name from these peculiar little mammals. Dutch settlers thought they were rats, so they called the island Rattenest or “Rat’s Nest”. They might look like giant rats, but they are not. They are marsupials and are more closely related to kangaroos and wallabies than any rodent. Enjoy the footage of these cute animals and listen to the relaxing lofi!
